What is it?
The Runathon is a day-long special event at MRES where students are encouraged to run as many laps as they can within an hour, with lots of support! This year's 8th Annual Runathon will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018. It’s a wonderful event and the funding fully supports the work of the PTA in helping our school! Money raised by the Runathon goes to support the Principal’s Fund, field trips, family engagement events, appreciation activities for teachers and staff, technology needs for the school, and other student and teacher needs. Plus, everyone has a great time!
When is my child running?
Grades 4-5-6 9:35 AM - 10:35 AM
Grades 2-3 10:50 AM - 11:50 AM
Grades K-1 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
The official student kick-off will be on October 26th (that’s when they’ll get their donation packet and info). You can sign-up now to volunteer on the day of the Runathon by clicking the button below. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. Thank you!
We hope you will talk with your children about the Runathon and encourage running and movement as healthy lifestyle choices. Feel free to use this optional training guide to get ready for the Runathon, or just for the fun of it!
Please do each workout 3-4 times a week, and take rest or stretch days in between. Listen to your body and don't overextend!
Week 1 - (Run 1 Minute, Walk 90 Seconds) x 8
Week 2 - (Run 2 Minutes, Walk 1 Minute) x 7
Week 3 - (Run 4 Minutes, Walk 90 Seconds) x 6
Week 4 - (Run 6 Minutes, Walk 2 Minutes) x 4
Week 5 - (Run 9 Minutes, Walk 2 Minutes) x 3
Week 6 - (Run 10 Minutes, Walk 1 Minute) x 3
Week 7 - (Run 15 Minutes, Walk 2 Minutes) x 2
Week 8 - (Run 30 Minutes!) x 1
